Sister to the wife of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has reportedly been kidnapped by suspected gunmen in Asaba, the state capital. The victim, who is identified as Elizabeth, is the immediate younger sister to the governor’s wife, Dame Edith Okowa, Vanguard reports. newnaijaupdate.com notes that report has it that the incident occurred along Temple Clinic junction close to the government house.

According to Sahara Reporters, the victim was said to be driving in her vehicle when she was abducted. An eyewitness said: “They shot sporadically into the air to scare away people. Out of fear, the lady, who was ordered to come out of her vehicle, jumped into their waiting vehicle.” A source at the government house said the family has been thrown into panic following the incident. However, the police in the state could not confirm the incident as at press time.
